Visual Fringe continues to promote art and artists with the Visual Fringe Gallery Walk. Expanding upon the success of Final Friday, Visual Fringe focuses on showing off the diverse galleries in Over-the-Rhine, mixing theatre and dance audiences with visual art fans on the Friday(s) and Saturday(s) of the festival.
The Visual Fringe premiere of Documentary Photography: Art Academy Students in Over-the-Rhine continues the showcase of the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood’s strong presence of visual art.
This show features the talent of Art Academy students capturing visual moments on their urban campus of Over-the-Rhine. Featured artists include Kevin Betsch, Lori Weeder, Cameron Richardson and Joe Civitello.
The documentary project allows students to interact with, learn from, and contribute to the neighborhood,” says assistant professor Emily Hanako, “Local establishments are also given an introduction to the Art Academy and our students.”
To continue the theme of this project, Visual Fringe is collaborating with Over-the-Rhine galleries to open during the Visual Fringe walk.
The 2007 Cincinnati Fringe Festival is May 30-June 9, 2007. The Festival is a collaborative organization striving to provide opportunities and exposure to artists who are willing to take a risk.
During the festival hundreds of local, regional, national and international artists invade downtown Cincinnati for 11 days of artistic celebration in both traditional and non-traditional spaces. These artists represent a variety of media including theatre, dance, music, poetry, visual art, film and everything between and beyond.
