Duveneck Memorial Art Show May 13th in Covington

This Sunday, May 13 is the Duveneck Memorial Art Show in the Covington riverside district. More than 40 artists will have original works of art for sale.

The annual Covington art show is a great option for people who love art but don't have thousands to spend on a painting. If you're looking for art as an investment, you can take a chance on an unknown artist and spend a lot less money. If you're looking for art for your home, you won't be disappointed- they have art for sale that fits any budget. Past shows have included jewelry, sculpture, paintings and photography.

Jazzing Up Covington's Mainstrasse

The vereee talented Mary Ellen Tanner has started a weekly gig singing at Chez Nora's in Covington's Mainstrasse. Backed by her trio (including the venerable jazz drummer John von Ohlen), she performs every Sunday at 7. If you've never seen M.E. perform, jump at the chance- she sings jazz standards in a throaty voice that's heavenly, making you yearn for a zoot suit, wing tips and a cool martini.

Rumbling Rockabilly

The revamped Downtowner has a good story on local Rockabilly stars Rumble Club. I picked up their latest recently and I am encouraged. They are very traditional sounding rockabilly, but according to the article they like to mix up their sound with a little country or a little punk. Check out their Myspace page for a sample of their sound or hit their website at www.rumbleclub.com.
