Sunday Night - Lite Brite

John Waters "hate[s] to be the one to tell you" any number of things: that there is a website dedicated to "blossoms", that he was convicted of obscenity every time charged, that he's looking for a pre-teen contortionist to include in his road show, etc.

It's not to early to get your tickets

I've never been to Lite Brite but if it's good enough for John Waters, it's good enough for me.

I bought my ticket online yesterday. It's $25 for his show on Sunday but just $5 more for the 3-day pass. (7/25-27)

It takes something special

to get me out of my normal Saturday routine. This Saturday's tribute to Patricia Corbett qualified. Several of the many organizations that Mrs. Corbett loved, came together for this free concert. Music Hall's orchestra and first balcony were almost full. It was lovely. Mrs. Corbett's grandson spoke and challenged everyone in the audience to continue supporting the arts via event attendance.

Nixon in Cincinnati

I'm always impressed by the power required for opera singers to project their voices out over the orchestra without microphones and music hall is always a great experience. Saturday's audience for Nixon in China was a nice mix of the usual opera crowd and some < 40's.

Slice of life is an interesting style for an opera. Most operas involve big dramatic events, murder, kidnapping, weddings, etc. This one kind of moved along and then was over. My favorite part was the pig song in the second act.
